Sir,

With reference to your despatch No.216 of the 4th October and previous correspondence on the subject of the proposed new Law Courts, I have the honour to transmit the enclosed copy of a Memorandum by the Honourable the Director of Public Works, who has requested that it may be referred to the Architects.

2. I entirely concur with the Director of Public Works in the views expressed in his Memorandum, and I have the honour to request, that you will be so good as to recommend the architects to give it their careful consideration.

I also transmit, for your consideration the enclosed copy of a Report by a Committee which, at the request of the Honourable the Director of Public Works, I appointed for the purpose of enquiring into and reporting upon some question relating to the plans and designs. This Report, in which I concur, deals with some particulars of great importance, which should be considered with as little delay as possible.

4. The reversal of the position of the buildings, which will result in making the West the principal and more attractive elevation, and which will cause all the more important rooms to face the East, is evidently desirable, and
